Loosing Ft. Carson Metro Bus Service

According to an article in the March 13 Mountaineer, “Mountain Metro Transit has been forced to eliminate bus service onto Ft. Carson, beginning in April 2009.”

If you are currently using bus route No. 30, contact “Metro Rides of Colorado Springs for carpool and other rideshare options at 385-Ride, press 2, or visit http://www.springsgov.com.”

Post-Deployment DVD’s

According to a posting on the Ft. Carson website, Tricare is offering free post-deployment DVD’s to soldiers and their families under the program “Help from Home”.

TriWest is making this 2-DVD set available to Soldiers and the Families covered by TRICARE. The series of post-deployment support programs, is available to watch at http://www.triwest.comunder Beneficiary Services by clicking on the Free Video Program on the righthand side of that box. The program can be ordered or viewed under streaming video.

     The programs are:
   Getting Home…All the Way Home is designed for the combat veteran, helping to adjust to life following a deployment, including the most common symptoms of combat stress.
     On the Homefront is designed for Families left behind during deployments.

Tell Me A Story

“Tell Me A Story” is an event that seeks to empower children by using literature and their own stories to foster skills for resilience, strong peer-and-parent connections and a sense of pride and accomplishments.

This event will be held May 17th at 3:00 pm at the Special Events Center, Building 1829.
